Contributed, Quinton Davis
May 7 2014 - 5:10pm

Editor,In reading the May 6 letter, "Recent racism issues merely a smokescreen," I knew it would be a matter of time before someone spoke out about rancher Bundy and NBA owner Sterling's right to freedom of speech being violated.  But, I offer to this letter writer and any of those that feel these two men have a right to voice their opinions...

More safety rules, devices needed near Ogden Canyon

Contributed, Dave Hultgren
May 7 2014 - 4:46pm

Editor,Since I live at the mouth of Ogden Canyon, a few comments occur to me.  One of the most important things I have noticed is the run, at high speeds, from Harrison to the one lane road into the canyon. This occurs daily. Better, highly visible warning lights should be installed. Lane marking is almost gone. The road at the junction just...

Editor,A few months ago I was diagnosed with whooping cough. I thought whooping cough went out with the Dark Ages. Was I ever wrong! I suffered with this for weeks. When I finally stopped eating, I thought I heard the angels calling my name. But by deciding not to give in to this awful disease, I am still here.  One doctor told me that I had...

Contributed, Karen Peterson Moyle

Editor,Regarding the April 30 guest commentary by Gregory Clark, "Wrong to push religion in public schools," I grew up a lone Mormon girl in the Bible Belt in Texas. Gay marriage could be a money maker

Carrie Kemp, Contributed
May 6 2014 - 4:39pm

Editor,In response to the April 28 article, "Report: Gay marriage would bring $15M to Utah," duhh! Wedding planners, bridal and tuxedo shops, jewelers, florists and divorce lawyers: don't they have a right to double their incomes? If people don't want their money, they could post the sign, "We have the right to refuse service to anyone." Come and...

Commissioners should honor the public trust

Contributed, Thomas R. Burton
May 6 2014 - 3:57pm

Editor,I attended the commission meeting one year ago when both commissioners Bell and Gibson, along with commissioner Zogmaister, approved the $45 million figure for the library bond initiative. Commissioners Bell and Gibson made it clear that the bond election should be by mail. Well, the ballots are in, the people have spoken, and let's get on...
